Juan Carlos Ferrero Upsets Gael Monfils at 2011 US Open

02 Sep

It was a bad day for the French Tennis Federation as Gael Monfils and Richard Gasquet were both bounced yesterday in their 2nd round matches.

I particularly enjoyed watching Juan Carlos Ferrero dismantle Monfils in the 5th set. The “mosquito” looked like the Ferrero of old last night making his much younger and visibly shaken opponent look like an amateur.

Good for you Juan Carlos!

Ivo Karlovic sailed past Gasquet and that was also fun to watch. Some would say this was an upset but Karlovic has always been dangerous and Gasquet has always been known as a quitter so you decide for yourself what happened.

Monfils and Gasquet just aren’t willing to die on the court and if you aren’t willing to die out there you will get sent home early as was the case with each of these two.

Bravo Juan Carlos and Ivo!

The rest of the days results can be found here .
